Hi all

The domains http://www.transitiontowns.org.nz and http://www.tt.org.nz will expire in one month. They cost $40 per year to renew.

So if you have found the TT web site of value at any point, please consider using the donation box on the top right. I'm after $80 to cover the domains and whatever extra will be for the last year's hosting.

Watch out, the donation form accepts payment in US dollars so you will probably want to adjust for that...

Many thanks

Rimu

What ever the equivalent of US$20 is in good old Kiwi $$ has been chipped in.

Would be great if the $$ were in local currency rather than greenbacks.

Its great to hear people are giving - although, I think its easy to give a little bit, especially when you know exactly what its for.  I hope you get more - we could start saving up for an electric bike :)

What to expect

I put in $12us which was about $20NZ. It asks you for a bit of details, like your address and phone number, which I did reluctantly, but it all appears legit and well managed and they send you a nice reciept so you can claim it if you like.

If you are not into credit card online may I sugest a back transfer to the account shown here and put web hosting in the payment details and that money will be forwarded to Rimu.

Remember, all this Transition Towns stuff is done out of the pockets of the driven individuals and groups. There is currently no funding or income to TT. If your local group has some funds available from movie nights, meetings etc, a few dollars towards the website is always appreciated.

And thanks to Rimu for his continued unpaid effort into keeping the website running and improving.

Thanks Daryl for the idea to put money into that other account. I have put $20 in that way. And yes- I will add my thanks to Rimu for all he does.

Delivering Transition

Our mostly volunteer efforts take time and energy and often are exhausting. It is heartening to have the virtual and real - in the form of a managed website - support of the TT network.
The costs and labour of Rimu in keeping the site functioning and attractive, building helpful tutorials, etc can't be underestimated. I don't know if there are other secret beavers at it as well, but it's pretty damn good.

We're running on the smell of an oily rag (vegetable oil) down here, but believe that it is essential we participate in ensuring the continuity of the web TT network. We in Waitati donated US$15: not much, and we'd find ways of finding more if it is required. But our calculation was that if every group around NZ using the site made a similar modest donation, ideally reclaimable via fundraising, then the return would be far greater than the donation. Even if it wasn't, wouldn't it be nice if the 'gift' could be larger than the need? Shouldn't that be our goal?

Please, can every TT community donate a small sum?

Since we began our pages our experience is that the TT site really connects us and introduces us to others, spreading the message. It makes the TTweb visible. It allows hubs to connect. It provides another form of Media that we control, strengthening our initiatives and allowing us to do more.

Donation from Invercargill

Deposited $25 in the above account from Transition invercargill.

Thanks, Rimu, for the amazing work you do on the website. It's good to have a site where ALL transition initiatives in NZ are respresented.

Cheers from the Invercargill steering group: Judith, Terry, Rhiannon, Conan and Diana.
