Whaingaroa/Raglan Seed Bank
Submitted by Fez on 5 August 2009 - 12:59pmKia Ora all. There is now a seed bank at the Environment Centre in the Town Hall building. Most seeds are held in bulk so the cost is minimal. Bring little bags for any seed you need. You can purchase just a few seeds if that's all you need, or a few hundred grams for larger areas. All is by koha. Most are from Kings Seeds with some from Koanga Gardens, various other seed savers, and some locally sourced. It is my aim to move toward communal local seed production and acclimatising different varieties to our local climate.

Transition Town Whaingaroa is lining up what we think will be an enlightening and inspiring evening of discussion and connection for the Whaingaroa community.

Citizens around the planet are waking up to the environmental and social perils associated with a globalised economy.

cycle4lanes
Submitted by John on 12 April 2009 - 2:23pmOn this week's Cycle4Lanes ride we followed a route that could be very easily converted to a good cycle route from Raglan to Wainui Reserve. In a few places it needs widening, but mostly it just needs signposts and a 2cm thick layer of limestone dust on the gravel sections. It also needs support from council and community board. To encourage that please think about putting in a submission by Monday 20th April to consult@waidc.govt.nz with your name and address and asking that the Long Term Council Community Plan provides for cycle lanes in Raglan.
